I believe that the main reason that our young men are acting like little boys and our young woman like little girls is because they don’t have a male role model in their lives to provide a true example of a real man. A real man, in my opinion, is one who is accountable -- taking responsibility for his actions.
So, I must ask the question: Where are the real men? Why are they silent and not standing up? Can’t they see that our young men and young women need them? Has society broken them down so badly that they can’t even stand to be heard and take their rightful place in this world?
A few facts:
- 63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes (US Dept. Of Health/Census) – 5 times the average.
- 80% of rapists with anger problems come from fatherless homes –14 times the average. (Justice & Behavior, Vol 14, p. 403-26)
- 71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes – 9 times the average. (National Principals Association Report)
